There’s a moment in every woman’s life when she looks around and whispers to herself, “This can’t be it.”
For me, that moment wasn’t dramatic. It didn’t come with fireworks or a breakdown. It was a quiet realization — the kind that settles into your chest and refuses to leave.
I remember feeling stuck, like I was living a life I didn’t choose. Everything looked “fine” from the outside, but inside… nothing fit. I knew I wanted more. More creativity. More purpose. More me in my everyday life.
And that’s how the thought of starting over was born — softly, almost like a secret.
The Spark That Changed Everything
Every big transformation starts with a tiny moment of bravery. Mine was deciding to sign up for a Digital Marketing Academy at Creative Hub.
It didn’t feel like a grand decision at the time. It was a simple, stubborn thought: “What if I just try?”
I didn’t tell many people at first. I didn’t know how to explain that I was ready to rebuild my entire life from the ground up. And yes, some people were confused. Some didn’t understand.
But for the first time in a long time… I felt excited about something.
The Hard Part Nobody Talks About
Let me be honest: Starting over sounds romantic until you’re deep in the messy middle of it.
There were days when I questioned my abilities. Days when I felt like an imposter sitting in front of a laptop full of new terms, new tools, new worlds. Days when I wondered if I was too late, too old, too behind.
But growth is sneaky. You don’t notice it until one day you catch yourself doing something you thought you could never do.
And in between all the doubts, something beautiful was happening — I was learning. Evolving. Rebuilding.
Slowly. Quietly. Steadily.
The Little Signs That I Was Becoming Someone New
Somewhere between late-night assignments, strategy projects, Canva disasters, and marketing brainstorms… I realized something:
I’m actually good at this. I felt creative. Motivated. Alive.
And then came the turning point: Winning the FledgeWorks hiring contest.
That moment felt like the universe saying, “See? This is where you were always supposed to be.”
I got my first role in marketing. Then I slowly became part of a team I genuinely love. And eventually, I stepped fully into the life I had spent months courageously building.
Rebuilding Myself Piece by Piece
Career switches aren’t just about new jobs. They’re about new identities.
Here are some of the things I learned while rebuilding myself from scratch:
- I learned to trust myself even when nothing made sense yet.
- I learned that starting small is still starting.
- I learned that my timeline isn’t supposed to look like anyone else’s.
- I learned that I wasn’t “too ambitious” — I was just finally in the right place to grow.
- I learned that reinvention is one of the most empowering things a woman can do.
I didn’t just change careers. I changed my mindset, my confidence, my direction, my energy.
Where I Am Today
Today, I wake up excited. I work in digital marketing at a company I truly believe in. I create, write, design, learn, and challenge myself every single day.
And somewhere along this journey, another part of me opened up — the creative part I didn’t even know I had been ignoring.
Since March, I’ve been part of the Graphic Design Academy at Creative Hub. With the amount of work at my new job, I usually catch up by listening to the recorded lectures and doing my assignments whenever life gives me a little breathing room.
And honestly? I love it.
On days when I have a spare 20–30 minutes between meetings or tasks, I put on a graphic design course on Coursera — Adobe Express, Figma, creative illustration… anything that helps me grow. It’s my little ritual, my way of investing in the future version of me.
I’m building skills I once only dreamed of, and doing it in moments most people write off as “too small to matter.” But that’s the thing — small moments can change your life just as much as big ones.
My life feels aligned — finally.
A Note to Anyone Who Needs to Hear This
If you’re reading this and you feel lost, stuck, or unsure of your next step — I promise you’re not alone. Starting over isn’t easy, but it is powerful. And you are allowed to change your life at any moment. You are allowed to choose a different path. You are allowed to rebuild yourself at 20, 30, 40, or 60.
You don’t need permission.
All you need is one tiny moment of courage — the kind that whispers, “What if I just try?”
And maybe, just maybe… that moment will change everything.
Sincerely yours,
Lori ✍️✨️
